About Us

The Center for Animal Resources is part of the TMU Office of Research and Development. The center provides animal husbandry, veterinary services and personnel training program for TMU faculty and staff.
 
The two animal husbandry areas are located in two separate buildings.
1. United Medical Building
- Husbanding of mice, rats, and hamsters in the Conventional Area.
 - Husbanding of Specific Pathogen Free (SPF) mouse, rat in the Barrier Area.
 
2. Medical Laboratory Science and Biotechnology Building
- Husbanding of New Zealand white rabbits, guinea pigs, and leghorn chickens.
 
The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) was established in accordance with Council of Agriculture Laws and Regulations and is qualified with the experience and expertise to oversee all animal use activities including the review of animal use protocols as well as animal care and use program. The IACUC monitors the institution’s animal facilities in compliance to the standards and regulations.
The Center for Animal Resources also has a mandatory training program on guidance and regulations to ensure that all animal users are qualified to handle the animals.
